Ayers History

Founded in 1983, Ayers Residential College was originally known simply as CCI, short for College of Commerce and Industry. Noting a lack of business-related communities, a student saw an opportunity to create a community of students centered around a common theme of industry and innovation. The result was a new dorm was coined the “College of Commerce and Industry.” Not long after its creation, CCI became the first dorm to contain a built-in computer lab equipped with the new and innovative “Macintosh 128K,” Apple’s first consumer computer. This helped to solidify CCI as a legitimate dorm and helped to create what we now know as Ayers Residential College. Thanks to our founder, Lance Rosenzweig, for coming and sharing some history about the college!
