A res college staple, Munchies is one of our favorite traditions! Join us Tuesdays at 8:00pm for ResBoard, where our President will make important announcements, host bonding activities, and lead a short themed session about anything from professionalism to mindfulness. After ResBoard, come on down to the lounge to get a yummy snack. Past Munchies have included Potbelly milkshakes, boba from Kung Fu Tea, Insomnia Cookies, Cinnaholic and Girl Scout cookies!

During RCB Field Day in the spring, all ten residential colleges come together for friendly competition, food, music, and prizes. Some events are Tug of War, Water Balloon Toss, Gladiator (Jousting), and the "Chair"-iot Race, where members of a residential college push their respective Faculty Chair around the lakefill in a shopping cart! Residential colleges can also earn points for this event through RCB Penny Wars, the field day video competition, and general spirit.

Intramural SportsWe love Intramural Sports (IMs)! You’ll never have to worry about finding enough people for a team because CCI will have your back! During fall quarter, the sports include dodgeball, football, and volleyball. During winter quarter, the sports are basketball and floor hockey. Then during spring quarter, the sports are soccer, softball, and ultimate Frisbee. There are also three different leagues in order of competitiveness: co-rec, white, and purple. The CCI teams excel in bringing spirit and collaboration to the games.

FiresidesFiresides are one of the most unique experiences for students living in a Residential College. These open-ended and informal talks are given regularly in the CCI lounge and highlight anyone from NU’s most celebrated professors to executives of renowned companies. Fireside topics are not confined to just business; the goal is to enlighten students in a fun way. Past guest speakers have included NU’s President Morton Shapiro and Coach Fitz, our NU Football coach. We’ve learned everything from how to make the most delicious appetizers to how to create 3D photography. Student residents can host their own firesides as well, sharing their passions with others!

PhilanthropyAyers CCI sponsors philanthropy outings, giving residents the opportunity to give back to the community and make an impact. In the past, we have worked with NU Dance Marathon, YMCA Children’s Center, Relay for Life, and other on-campus groups. Annual Ayers CCI fundraising events include the Service Auction and Date Auction for NUDM, and Relay for Life.

Start-Up InitiativeThe theme of our RC suits itself to gain hands on experience in entrepreneurship by bringing together those who are interested in exploring what it actually means to found a business. The initiative took shape in the Fall 2021 when a group of students decided to work towards building a new bike share operation on campus. This idea gained majority support among the 20+ students that attended the Start Up Kickoff meeting, and it is still alive and kicking! The goal is to make this a standing tradition at Ayers by aiming to get a new initiative going with each incoming group of first-years. Why might you want to be a part of it? Aside from the dream of graduating rich (sigh), this initiative provides great opportunities for developing a diverse set of skills – from pitching to legalities to rising venture capital.
